How to plan a Connecticut backyard wedding

Here’s your check list for the ultimate backyard wedding! Work with your planner to make it happen!

1) THE SPACE
contact your rental company and make sure you have the dimensions for the whole setup, not just where the guests will be! Are there any spots around your yard that are chronically wet or difficult to walk? Plan around those.
2) THE BATHROOMS
no one wants to think about where they’ll go to the bathroom until its time! Make sure you have plenty of facilities available for your guests. We highly reccommend renting bathroom trailers for a streamlined experience. Leave your precious house be!
3) WHERE TO PARK
is there a parking area that is usually dry, spacious, and has an good entrance? Is it far away from the festivities? Look into getting a shuttle especially if mud or a long walk is involved.
4) EXTRA STAFF
because you’re not at a venue full of hired hands, it will be helpful to have some people to help do all of the in between work that goes unnoticed
5) HIRE A PLANNER
You’re basically building a wedding venue in your backyard. There’s so much logistics that you don’t need to worry about. There’s also so much that you probably are not expecting either! Let a planner guide you, they have the experience!
6) EMBRACE LOCAL
Connecticut has so much to offer in terms of produce, beer,, wine, food, & art. Find ways to incorporate local farms & breweries into your celebration. You’ll be supporting the community & our farmers!

there’s nothing worse than not being able to enjoy the most special night of your life because its too hot or cold. You might not feel it, but your guests surely will. Adding heaters or ample shade for the ceremony will help to keep everyone focused & comfortable.
9)MANAGE THE RAIN
This past year in Connecticut the weather did the unthinkable. Rained only on the weekend and was beautiful during the week. Find ways to manage the water situation before hand that way you don’t panic. The use of straw can help soap up soppy areas. Your tent pro will have some suggestions too!
